REFLECTIVE WRITING #1

Do you like life here in Victoria or Canada? That is a common question people I have already met, friendly and politely, ask to me very often. In a matter of seconds, all different things come immediately to my mind before giving an answer.
Firstly, it is really shocking to see how green this place is. The amount of trees and grass is just astonishing. But, what I think is that it would not have happened without human intervention. I consider most of the people can easily feel the level of education in a country when they take a look around and they just do not see any garbage around. Besides this, parks look more than beautiful, and I suppose it is because of people around who care about them. In addition, I would say there is a trash or even separated bin for recycling, every one or two hundred meters. This means for me that the governmental institution which is in charge of this task, is doing its job too.
Secondly, the transportation is another interesting thing about Canadians’ lives and education. Streets and routes are very well organised with the priority for buses and pedestrians, but not leaving behind the cycle ride ways too. With this, responsibility and planning in advance for being on time is a must for every citizen.
Thirdly, this is a city which currently works for an environment friendly place, not only for promoting some habits such as small number of cars in the streets by using city buses, protection of animal and plant species, less noise in the surroundings; but also by providing accessibility for people with special needs capacities and, ethnic and gender diversity. Moreover, the quality and quantity of recreation and sport areas around the city is admirable. Both of the last mentioned above, directly help out to improve citizens’ mental and physical health: less stress and better life.
In conclusion, I certainly like Panama the way it is now. However, next time someone asks me if I like the life here, all these factors I mentioned before will strongly support my answer, which most likely will be: yes, I love it!
